BERLIN, Vt. - Owners of the Berlin Mall broke ground Thursday on a new Wal-Mart expansion.
The mega-chain will be adding a grocery store as part of an 18,000-square-foot addition.
Mall owner Ken Simon says the move should benefit Wal-Mart and its customers. Other retailers should be busier, as well.
"I think they'll be able to draw off the traffic. That's what anchor tenants are supposed to do and I think they, the tenants in the mall, will experience a lot more potential customers," Simon said.
Wal-Mart expects to hire 72 additional employees, bringing the total workforce to nearly 150.
The project is expected to be completed by September.
