Pet Policy at Central Vermont Marketplace

NO PETS ALLOWED

EXCEPT TRAINED “SERVICE ANIMALS”

A “service animal” is defined by the ADA as “a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.” Establishments such as stores, restaurants, theaters, museums, and gyms are required to give unrestricted access to service animals, but are under no obligation to permit emotional support animals.

Emotional support pets are not permitted. Pets providing emotional support, comfort, companionship or well-being are NOT recognized as service animals under ADA regulations. Emotional support and comfort animals are strictly excluded from ADA public access rights. Trained service animals are legally authorized to accompany their owners nearly everywhere they go, however emotional support animals are only admitted on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the venue owner or manager.

It is illegal to pass off your emotional support animal as a service animal.

If your animal is not a trained service animal, you will be asked to remove the animal from the mall.
